Navy Blue white porthole painting inspired by Australian Waratah wildflowers. Original one of a kind artwork
Inspired by Australian Native flowers Waratahs and Flowering Gums, the floral design is etched into the navy blue surface of the Porthole and delicate details are highlighted in white ink.
So, what's a Paper Porthole and how big are they?
Paper Portholes are made of recyled paper and completely hand formed by Rebecca. Each artwork is about 18 to 20 cms in diameter (from one side to the other) depending on how much they shrink during drying time. They are a beautiful, unique artwork where the painting is only half the story. Each one is rendered by hand and turned lovingly until completely dry all the way through, until they are as light as a feather and hard as a rock. The surface is then sealed and prepared for painting. Once that process is complete a flower design inspired by Australian Wildflowers is scratched into the surface layer of wet paint and then the laborious but totally meditative process of picking out the details with white ink begins. When each one of a kind artwork is complete the porthole is then sealed and prepared for life in a home where flowers never die. They are a gorgeous very unique piece that look fantastic by themselves or in a gallery wall style vignette.
Each artwork is about 18 to 20 cms in diameter and an original piece, created with love from scratch by Australian artist Rebecca Coulter.
You can hang your gorgeous new porthole with an adhesive backed hook that won't damage your walls. You can purchase them at any supermarket or hardware store.
When will I get it?
Orders are posted every Tuesday and Friday via Australia Post.
This one is sold, will you make me another?
Hello, Beck here, thanks for asking. One a piece is sold, it's gone. The good news is that I release new collections as often as I can, so there's still a chance you can get one that you love. You have to be quick though, as there's usually only 8 or 9 ports and the same amount of woodblocks in each collection. The best way to get one is to get the email telling you when a collection will be released. You can get on the list by signing up down below on the "want to see new work?" tab. One your'e on the list you get to shop first so there's a better chance you won't miss out. Good luck! x
